Convert PNG to WEBP
Convert PNG images to WEBP while keeping the transparency.
Your data is never sent to any server.
The PNG to WEBP converter shrinks your images while keeping their transparency. It is the easiest way to lighten logos, icons, screenshots and photos saved as PNG for use on a website. It runs in your browser with no file limit.
Which images gain the most
- Photographs saved as PNG: they benefit the most, because PNG is very inefficient with photos.
- Logos and images with transparency: WebP keeps the transparent background with much lighter files.
- Screenshots: they get noticeably lighter; if they have small text, use quality 90 or higher so it stays sharp.

You will see how much each PNG weighed and how much the WebP weighs before downloading.
Frequently asked questions
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. WebP supports transparency, so the PNG's transparent backgrounds are kept.
How much space do I save?
It depends on the image. Photographs saved as PNG shrink enormously; with logos and small icons the saving varies more, and some already optimised PNGs barely change. The tool shows you the result for each image.
Do I lose quality?
The conversion uses lossy compression to get light files. At quality 85 or higher it is not visible in logos or photos. If you need every pixel exact, keep the PNG.
Can I use WebP on my website without problems?
Yes. Every current browser displays it, Safari included.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
