Uppercase and Lowercase Converter

Convert text between UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, camelCase and more.

Your data is never sent to any server.

The case converter transforms your text between seven formats: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case. Paste the text, press a format and copy the result.

All seven formats with the same phrase

FormatResult
UPPERCASETHE SALES REPORT
lowercasethe sales report
Title CaseThe Sales Report
Sentence caseThe sales report
camelCasetheSalesReport
snake_casethe_sales_report
kebab-casethe-sales-report

For the three programming formats, the tool recognises words even when they are stuck together: myVariableXML splits into my, Variable and XML, so you can turn a camelCase name into snake_case without separating it first.

Fixing caps lock accidents

A paragraph typed with caps lock on does not need retyping: convert it to Sentence case and then fix the proper nouns. It is also the quickest way to tidy a list of names or categories that arrived with inconsistent capitalization from a spreadsheet or a form.

Frequently asked questions

What does Title Case do here?

It capitalizes the first letter of every word, including short ones such as of, the or and. Style guides such as AP and Chicago keep those short words in lower case, so adjust them by hand if you follow one.

What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case for?

They are naming conventions in programming. camelCase joins words capitalizing each but the first; snake_case separates them with underscores; kebab-case with hyphens, common in URLs and CSS.

Does the transformation respect accents?

Yes. The uppercase and lowercase conversions handle accented characters correctly (á ↔ Á, ñ ↔ Ñ).

Do I lose the original text when transforming?

No. The original stays in the top pane; each transformation is applied to it, so you can try different formats without redoing anything.

Why did Sentence case lowercase a proper noun?

Because it turns everything to lower case and only capitalizes the start of the text and the letter after a full stop, an exclamation mark, a question mark or a line break. It cannot know which words are names, so London or Anna need fixing by hand.
