Your data is never sent to any server.

The voice recorder records audio with your computer’s or phone’s microphone without installing anything. Record, listen back and download. The audio is not uploaded anywhere: it stays in your browser until you save it.

Getting a better sound

The biggest difference is not the microphone but the room. A small room with furniture, curtains or a full bookcase sounds far better than a kitchen or a bathroom, where your voice bounces off hard surfaces. Stay a hand’s width from the microphone, always at the same distance, and make a ten-second test recording before the real one.

If you use your phone’s headset microphone, the cable or the stem tends to pick up rubbing against your clothes. Hold it still while you talk.

How to use Voice Recorder

    Allow microphone access

    The first time you press record, the browser asks for permission. If you refuse by mistake, you can change it from the padlock in the address bar.

    Press the microphone button to start and again to stop. The counter shows the length as you record.

    Listen and download

    Each recording appears in the list with its own player. Download the ones you want to keep and delete the rest.

Frequently asked questions

What format is the recording downloaded in?

Whatever your browser records natively: WebM with the Opus codec in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and M4A in Safari. Both sound good at small file sizes and open in browsers and in players such as VLC.

Can I get it as an MP3?

Yes, in two steps: download the recording and open it in the audio trimmer, which exports MP3. While you are there you can cut the silence at the start and end.

How long can I record?

There is no set limit. The recording is kept in the browser's memory while the page is open, so for very long sessions it is worth downloading and starting a new recording now and then.

What happens to my recordings when I close the page?

They are lost, because they only exist in that tab's memory. Download the ones you want to keep before closing it.

Is my voice uploaded to any server?

No. The audio is recorded in your browser and only saved to your disk when you press download.
