Resize Images

Change the size of one image, or up to 50 at once, in pixels or by percentage and without distortion.

Your data is never sent to any server.

The image resizer changes the size of a photo in exact pixels or by percentage, without distorting it, and tells you how much it will weigh before you download it. If you drop several images at once, it resizes them all with the same rule and gives them to you in a ZIP. Everything happens in your browser.

Why shrink before uploading

A phone photo is about 4000 pixels wide and weighs several megabytes. If your website shows it at 1200 pixels, the browser downloads more than ten times the pixels it will use. Shrinking it to its real size is the simplest way to make a page load fast, and also to get a photo under the size limit of a form or an email.

How to use Resize Image

  1. 1

    Load the image

Drag it in, click to choose it or paste it with Ctrl+V. PNG, JPG, WebP and the other formats your browser can open are accepted. If you drop several at once, you switch to batch mode.

  2. 2

    Choose the new size

Type the width or the height in pixels; with Keep aspect ratio on, the other value adjusts itself. You can also use the 25, 50, 75 and 100% buttons or the slider, which goes up to 200%.

  3. 3

See how much it will weigh

Below the preview you can see the resulting file size and how it compares with the original. For very large images, the size is worked out when you download.

  4. 4

    Download the result

Press Resize and download. If the original is PNG, JPG or WebP, it comes out in the same format.

Frequently asked questions

Can I resize several images at once?

Yes, up to 50 at a time. Drop them together and pick one rule for all: a percentage or a maximum width such as 800, 1280 or 1920 pixels. Each keeps its own proportions, the ones already narrower are left as they are, and at the end you download everything as a ZIP.

Does the image lose quality when made smaller?

Barely. Shrinking discards pixels, and at normal screen sizes you cannot tell. Enlarging is different: it cannot invent detail, so above 100% the image looks increasingly blurry.

What happens if I turn off Keep aspect ratio?

You can set width and height separately, but the image will stretch or squash to fit those exact dimensions. If you want to change the shape, say from landscape to square, cropping beats distorting.

What format is it downloaded in?

The same as the original if it is PNG, JPG or WebP. Any other format, such as GIF or BMP, is saved as PNG.

Is my image uploaded to any server?

No. It is resized in your browser and never leaves your device. Once the page has loaded, it even works offline.
